ANNOUNCING— Teacher as Change Agent

Imagine if…

  • all policymakers made decisions that were informed by the knowledge, experience and insight of teachers;

  • all teachers believed they could and should make a difference in addressing the challenges faced by schools, their profession and the education system at large; and

  • all teachers had a place to go to learn how to be more effective leaders of change.

Imagine how this would benefit America’s children.  Because teachers have first hand knowledge of what is needed to improve student learning, promoting and supporting teacher leadership is critical to the success of any education reform effort.
But how do we turn this vision into reality?  How do we help teachers connect with policymakers?  How do we help teachers see themselves as leaders of change?  And how do we help teachers become more effective leaders?
Welcome to Virginia Commonwealth University’s on-line Teacher Leadership Course!
Designed by a team of teacher leaders from around the country pulled together by Terry Dozier, Director of the Center for Teacher Leadership at the VCU School of Education, this course is intended to help you:

  • Assess and develop your own leadership skills
  • Deepen your knowledge about policy
  • Sharpen your skills in influencing change
  • Build an ongoing learning community of colleagues
