Role of BTA
Coordinator
The most important responsibility of the Beginning Teacher Advisor (BTA)
Coordinator is to provide ongoing support for our mentors. This
support is provided by Friday Forums, weekly professional
development opportunities, to enhance the knowledge and skills of
the mentors. The coordinator facilitates the Friday Forums and is
available to meet with mentors individually throughout the week.
Other responsibilities of the BTA Coordinator include
-
Making school
visits, often meeting with building administrators and touching
base with the beginning teachers;
-
Meeting with
district representatives to assess the effectiveness of the
mentoring program in each district;
-
Keeping abreast of
goals and initiatives in each of the four school districts;
-
Serving as liaison
with the New Teacher Center in Santa Cruz; and
-
Working with
district representatives by providing assessment and evaluation
input for the mentors.
