Developed by the New Teacher Center at the University
of California at Santa Cruz, this training is guided by the belief
that learning to teach is a career-long developmental process that
involves a continuous cycle of planning, teaching, and reflecting.
Some of the key concepts included are: Creating a Vision of Quality
Teaching, Defining Mentoring
Roles, Identifying New Teachers' Needs, Building an Effective
Mentoring Relationship, Selecting Support Strategies, Establishing
an Environment for Professional Growth, Highlighting the Role of
Professional Standards in Mentoring
Registration begins on June 1, 2008

Teacher Leadership Training
An online course for Teacher Leaders!
CTL convened a design team composed of exemplary
teacher leaders from around the country, policymakers, and
technology experts to develop an on-line course in teacher
leadership. Members of the Teacher Leaders Network (TLN) and
VA-Forum were well represented! The course is designed to help teachers:
· Assess and develop their leadership skills
· Deepen their knowledge about policy
· Sharpen their skills in influencing change
· Build an ongoing learning community of colleagues interested in
becoming more effective teacher leaders
