I am retiring this year (2009).  It was a pleasure to work with all the student teachers and Clinical training staff from VCU. I am proud to say that all the teachers I cooperated with are gainfully employed in our schools. Thanks for all you did to enhance my career.

Clinical Faculty Program

Teachers consistently report that their student teaching experience was the most powerful and important part of their preparation program. It's where students' learning about theory and practice is put to test in the real world, where they begin to truly internalize their roles as future teachers.  As the last step in the pre-service learning journey, the student teaching experience needs to be of the highest consistent quality to ensure that these future teachers are well prepared to transition into their future K-12 classrooms.

Our clinical faculty are exemplary K-12 practitioners identified through a rigorous competitive selection process to work with VCU pre-service teachers. Through an intense 2 1/2 day training based on the Santa Cruz New Teacher mentoring model, VCU Clinical Faculty acquire the knowledge and skills needed to support pre-service teachers as they become critically reflective practitioners.

Why is the VCU Clinical Faculty Program unique?

The Clinical Faculty Program is an exciting opportunity for professional growth for teacher leaders.

  • Open to all teachers
  • Rigorous application process
