The VCU Clinical Faculty Program is one of five objectives of the META Teacher Development and Retention Project overseen by the Center for Teacher Leadership at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Teachers consistently report that their student teaching experience was the most powerful and important part of their preparation program. We take that seriously at VCU and strive to ensure consistency and quality in our clinical placements. Our Clinical Faculty are exemplary K-12 practitioners identified through a competitive selection process to work with VCU pre-service teachers. Through a two-day training based on the Santa Cruz New Teacher Project, Clinical Faculty acquire the knowledge and skills needed to assist VCU pre-service teachers in becoming critically reflective practitioners.
